The composer and violist Hans Brunner lived and worked throughout his life in Basel, Switzerland. The Fünf Stücke (Five Pieces) for Violin and Piano, Op.11, No.2, which are available in print for the first time, were composed in 1932. One year earlier Brunner composed the Sonatina for Violin and Piano, Op.11, No.1, which was published by Hug & Co., Zurich and Leipzig shortly after its composition. The two musical compositions do not place too high demands on the performers in terms of playing technique and are therefore an enrichment of the chamber music literature from the first half of the last century, even for interested amateur musicians.
